CAYIN SOUL 170I
For the first time in the history of Cayin, the KT170 tube is used. The Cayin SOUL 170I is coming to Europe and “of course” is the first at A Tube High Fidelity. A tube amplifier with the end tube, the powertube KT 170! This powerhouse delivers up to 300Watt in a Push-Pull set-up!
The design of the Soul 170I goes back to 2018 when Cayin introduced the Cayin A-845Pro for its 25th Anniversary. This model has been very well received worldwide and has received many awards and fantastic reviews for design and quality/sound. The Cayin 170i is designed based on the world-class KT170 Power Tube (thanks to Tungsol-Mike)
Real-world realization of 130 watts of power in ultralinear mode or 75 watts of power in triode mode (per channel) is quite sensational.
Designed in a class AB Push-Pull configuration, Soul 170i has implemented two tubes of the powerful KT170 tube per channel.
This fully integrated tube uses a special 22DE4 pipe rectifier for power supply tasks, while hand-selected ECC83S are used for the voltage amplification ladder. In addition, there are special 6SN7s for the driver trap and of course the rather unique KT170 output tubes.
Following the design concept of the Cayin Soul 170i, the amplifier offers two operating modes:
Triode and ultralinear.
As you can see from the specifications above, these two different modes offer two different output power configurations.
Changing the output mode immediately results in a fundamentally different sound signature for the listener.
Triode Mode is rendering, a richer, softer and more fluid taste – this can be excellent for vocal and instrumental music.
Ultralinear mode has a very impressive power and extension – clean of energy, ideal for music with punch and dynamic range and as such this offers excellent control and immense grip.
SOUL 170
Three pairs of line inputs, a few balanced inputs and a few 'Pre-In' are located on the amplifier's eighth-r panel.
The 'Pre-In' offers the listener the possibility to connect another high end Pre-Amplifier, so you can use the Soul 170i as a stand alone power amplifier.
Unique is that Cayin has integrated one pair of special subwoofer outputs at the back, allowing a high-quality subwoofer to be integrated into the setup. This offers additional possibilities to expertly expand the bass performance for the customer's setup.
Cayin also offers a set of fully balanced XLR inputs on the Soul 170i, which once again pushes the limits in the design of high-end tube amplifiers. This therefore offers the listener the opportunity to run a fully balanced setup through the entire audio system.
